The bodies of three Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers — including American-Israeli Omer Neutra — were returned to Israel by Hamas overnight on Sunday. All three soldiers had been killed during the ongoing conflict.
In exchange, the bodies of 45 Palestinians were handed back to Gaza on Monday, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Following the return of Neutra’s body, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum released a statement expressing solidarity with his loved ones. “The families of the hostages and the returned are embracing the family of Omer Neutra,” the group said, adding that the repatriation brings some comfort amid the continuing pain and uncertainty.
The exchange highlights the continuing humanitarian efforts to recover the remains of those lost on both sides of the conflict.
